Yuki, a Japanese born jewellery designer and maker, now based in London takes inspiration from her Japanese heritage and English surroundings allowing her jewellery to be traditional yet inventive way.
Her collections are inspired by positive events in her life, stimulated by her surrounding environment and experiences from her travels. Yuki explores textures, shapes, colours and patterns delivered from traditional embroidery and textiles, combining them into modern pieces of art.
Yuki is fascinated by the concept of jewellery as an amulet, meaning that pieces have the power to bring good luck or protection to the wearer. Her use of gems, semi-precious stones and metals add to this belief allowing pieces to be not only beautiful but spiritual.
Yuki’s current ‘Pond Collection’is inspired by Kyoto Garden, a part of Holland Park in London. “Kyoto Garden is very different from other areas, but is popular due to the harmony between Japanese inspired decorations accented by a feeling of a Victorian English garden,” explains Yuki, “I see people from different cultural background, each with a different sense of beauty enjoying the garden as a beautiful place.”
The Pond series draws on this harmony featuring silver pieces in organic, free-flowing shapes depicting ripples of a pond, or flowers of an English garden. Brought together using semi-precious stones, embroidery and hand-finishing techniques, Yuki is created a simply stunning, fluid and breathtaking collection.
